Use the act reward preview to find a Story material. For a small shortage, visit the Crafting area's Material Shop or conversion menu. Keep evolution ingredients aside before spending the rest on accessories.

Where to get materials
A map can have different material rewards across its acts. Read the preview for the act you are about to enter, including when you move to another chapter.
| Source | Use it for | Before entering or buying |
|---|---|---|
| Story acts | A material listed in that act's rewards. | Read the exact act and difficulty's preview. |
| Infinite | Longer resource and material farming sessions. | Pick a difficulty you can survive. |
| Material Shop | The last few ingredients for a recipe. | Read the price, stock, and your remaining coins. |
| Conversion | Trading materials you have spare. | Read the input and output quantities. |
| Raids | Raid-specific weapons and upgrade materials. | Choose the raid that drops the required item. |

Keep evolution materials aside
Subtract your main weapon's evolution requirements before counting what is available to craft or convert.
If evolution needs 20 of an ingredient and you own 27, you have seven spare. Spend more than that and you will need to farm the ingredient again before evolving. Update your list after each craft.
Choose an act you can repeat quickly
Run the same act a few times and note the target drops and total time. Keep the difficulty and loadout the same while you try it. Use those results to choose your route, but a few unlucky runs cannot tell you an item's drop rate.
When you are one ingredient short, look at its shop price before running another batch.
Staff of Homa and Ghost are raid materials for Flame Director. Follow her Spirited Away route for those items.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find a specific material?+
Read its exact name in the recipe, then find it in an act or mode's reward preview. Match names, not just icons.
Should I convert all my common materials?+
Keep what you need for planned crafts and evolution. Convert only the surplus.
How do I know which route is faster?+
Record target items and total time over repeated clears. Keep the build and difficulty unchanged so the results are useful.
Does an empty run mean the material cannot drop there?+
No. If the reward preview lists the item, a run without it can simply be an unlucky drop.
